First Daughter Ashley Biden is the only child of President Joe and First Lady Jill Biden. She is a social worker, activist, philanthropist, and fashion designer. Biden is a private person and has no public social media presence. She has also said that she will not have a job in her father’s administration.

In her first-ever interview on the “Today” show in 2021, she said, "I will, however, hopefully use this platform to advocate for social justice, for mental health, to be involved in community development and revitalization. I do hope to bring awareness and education to some topics, subjects that are really important."

Biden was born in 1981 in Wilmington, Delaware. Her activism began as a child with a letter to cosmetics company Bonne Bell, imploring them to change their policy of testing on animals. She later became involved in dolphin conservation and appeared before members of the United States Congress to lobby for the passage of the 1990 Dolphin Protection Consumer Information Act.

Biden’s activism has continued into adulthood. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with her master’s degree in social work, she took a position at the non-profit organization West End Neighborhood House as their Employment and Education Liaison. There, she developed various employment and job skills training programs.

Biden then spent 15 years as a social worker in the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families (DSCYF). She joined the Delaware Center for Justice as an associate director in 2012, focusing on criminal reform in the state. Two years later, she was promoted, serving as the center’s executive director until 2019.

In 2017, Biden launched an ethical fashion clothing brand called the Livelihood Collection to help combat income inequality and racial inequality in the United States. 10% of the brand's sales are donated to community organizations in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, D.C. and the Riverside neighborhood of Wilmington, Delaware.

Biden’s name has been in the news most recently when two Florida residents pled guilty in August 2022 to the theft of her diary prior to the 2020 presidential election. The pair had intended to sell the diary for profit.
