Aimee Garcia broke into the entertainment industry at age 7 as a professional dancer in Paul Mejia’s “Cinderella” and hasn’t slowed down since. A Chicago native of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, she is best known for her roles as Veronica Palmero on the ABC sitcom “George Lopez,” Yvonne Sanchez on the CBS period drama “Vegas,” Jamie Batista on the Showtime drama “Dexter,” and Ella Lopez on the Fox/Netflix drama “Lucifer.”

Garcia was interested in the field of entertainment at a young age and, in addition to dancing in “Cinderella,” appeared in several commercials. By age 12, she was dancing 20 shows a month as Clara in “The Nutcracker.” She also took acting classes at the Piven Theatre Workshop.

Garcia attended Northwestern University, where she triple-majored in economics, journalism, and French. While there, she continued to appear in local plays and musicals and accepted a two-year contract with Norman Lear, who hand-picked her to headline his pilot-in-development, “The Chavez Family.” She quit acting for a year after graduating and did finance work for a mutual fund analyst, but, finding the career unrewarding, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting in earnest.

Garcia began picking up roles quickly. She appeared in The WB’s “Greetings from Tucson” and had a role in the Disney Channel original movie “Cadet Kelly.” She co-starred as Lydia in The WB sitcom “All About the Andersons,” and, in 2006, she began appearing in one of her most recognized roles: the charming and spoiled niece Veronica on “The George Lopez Show.” She was nominated for the 2007 Alma and Imagen Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series for the role.

Garcia has also appeared in more than 25 films, including “Robocop,” “El Chicano,” “The Addams Family,” and the upcoming “Murder at Yellowstone City.” In addition to her acting career, Garcia is co-founder of Scrappy Heart Productions with former professional wrestler AJ Mendez. The duo’s writing so far has included the comic book series “GLOW vs. The Babyface,” the Dungeons & Dragons four-issue limited series “At the Spine of the World,” and the screenplay for the upcoming film “Blade of the 47 Ronin.”
