Kristen H. Martin will go down in history as the first female CEO of the Utica National Insurance Group. Her recent appointment follows the retirement of Richard P. Creedon, who served as CEO and Chairman of the Board for 26 years. While Creedon will continue as Chairman of the Board, Martin steps into the leadership position with a wealth of experience within the company.

She most recently held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer, having been named to this role in 2019. Martin’s journey at Utica National began in 2001 when she joined as an Examiner. Over the years, she earned several promotions, including Corporate Secretary in 2013, Executive Vice President in 2013, and Director of Underwriting Operations in 2014. Her commitment extends beyond the corporate realm; she actively engages with the community, supporting initiatives such as the Utica National Kids Run and Boilermaker 5K through the Utica National Group Foundation. Martin’s legal background, with a JD from Albany Law School, and her bachelor’s degree in economics and government from St. Lawrence University, equip her well for this pivotal leadership role.
