Founded by Brittney Brock in 2023, Moms in Music is a community-fostering organization dedicated to empowering, supporting, and advocating for women in the music industry who are mothers, in mothering roles, or on the journey to motherhood. The idea for the organization came to Brock while she was serving as president of operations for the record label 10K Projects. Her extensive industry experience includes roles such as Usher’s day-to-day manager and an A&R executive at Def Jam.

Moms in Music welcomes new members on a quarterly basis and currently stands at just under 200 members, having recently announced its Q2 class. The organization encompasses all genres and facets of the industry, including both artists and executives. Notable members include former Capitol Music Group chairwoman and CEO Michelle Jubelirer, Grammy-winning artist Melanie Fiona, Grammy-nominated songwriter Makeba Riddick, background vocalist Rachel Beauregard (who has worked with artists like Maren Morris and Hozier), and trumpeter Crystal Torres, who performed on Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour while visibly pregnant.

The mission of Moms in Music is to create a supportive network for women navigating the unique challenges of balancing motherhood and a career in the music industry. Brock’s vision for the organization stemmed from her own observations and experiences in the industry, where she recognized a significant gap in support for mothers. The organization aims to provide resources, advocacy, and a community for women who often face the dual pressures of their professional and personal lives. Brock’s leadership and experience have been instrumental in shaping Moms in Music.

During her time at 10K Projects, she identified the need for a platform where women could connect, share their experiences, and support each other. Her career has been marked by notable achievements, including her management role with Usher and her contributions as an A&R executive at Def Jam. These roles have given her a deep understanding of the music industry’s demands and the importance of creating an inclusive environment for women.

Moms in Music is committed to fostering an environment where mothers in the industry can thrive. The organization’s diverse membership includes influential figures who have achieved significant success in their respective fields. By bringing together artists, executives, and other industry professionals, Moms in Music provides a space for networking, mentorship, and collaboration. The inclusion of high-profile members like Michelle Jubelirer, Melanie Fiona, and Crystal Torres highlights the organization’s reach and impact. These women, among others, serve as role models and advocates for the community, demonstrating that it is possible to balance a successful career with motherhood. Torres’s performance on Beyoncé’s tour, particularly while visibly pregnant, underscores the organization’s message of empowerment and visibility for mothers in the industry.

Moms in Music continues to grow, welcoming new members and expanding its support network. Through its initiatives, the organization aims to create a more inclusive and supportive industry for women, ensuring that they have the resources and community needed to succeed both personally and professionally.
