Lauren credits travelling with the UN World Food Programme as a Student Spokesperson as the inspiration to found FEED Projects. In 2004, she visited communities in Central America, Asia, and Africa and saw firsthand the harsh realities of poverty and hunger that people face. The idea initially materialized in the form of a bag which, when purchased, fed one child in school for a year. It didn’t take long for Lauren to realize she was moving in the right direction.

“I was very influenced by my travel experiences around the world as a student. It is what opened my eyes to the disparity that exists in the world and set me on a path to starting FEED. The moment I realized I was on the right path was the first time I saw a woman I didn't know carrying a FEED bag down the street,” she said in an interview with POPSUGAR.

Lauren’s work with FEED Projects has earned her several awards, including the Accessories Council Humanitarian Award, the Fashion Group International Humanitarian Award, and the 2013 Advocacy Award from the World of Children Awards.

Prior to her work with FEED Projects, Lauren was a fashion model with Elite Model Management. She has modelled for Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Isaac Mizrahi and has appeared on the covers of Vogue and Vanity Fair. In 2011, she married David Lauren, the son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, thus creating her unique double moniker.
