Women We Admire is pleased to announce The Top 100 Women Leaders of New Jersey for 2021. This year’s awardees represent an elite group of leaders who have used their knowledge and insight to lead in companies across nearly all industries. New Jersey women have long played important roles within our country’s past. Clara Barton, Civil War nurse, founder of the first public school in New Jersey and the first president of the American Red Cross, grew her roots in the state. Alongside her was Elizabeth Cady Stanton, an early leader in the women’s rights movement, who dedicated her life to make it possible for women today to lead in the workplace. Their perseverance, followed by countless other women after them, has allowed for the success of this year’s awardees.

Awardee Jane Connell, an SVP and CIO with Verizon, helps lead the mobile service provider into new territories, recently announcing their plans to launch a faster, stronger 5G network for their users. Meanwhile, Kuenhe+Nagel expands their ever-growing business into new parts of the world with the help of their leaders like Nadine Jones, a VP and Corporate Counsel for the company. Sandy Green, the VP for Production Management with Discovery, uses her expertise to continue the success of the well-loved entertainment company to provide so much of the world with their favorite television shows.

1. Jane Connell
Verizon

Jane Connell is an SVP and CIO with Verizon. She first joined the company in 2021. As one of the world’s leading providers of technology, communications, information and entertainment products, Verizon is transforming the way people, businesses and things connect. Verizon was formed in 2000, as a merger between GTE Wireless and Bell Atlantic and is currently the second largest mobile service provider in the US.

Connell first got her start in 1986 in customer service with Bristol-Myers Squibb before moving on to Johnson and Johnson where she held several roles including director, VP, and CIO. Later, she was the SVP and CIO at State Street before moving on to her current position. Connell earned an undergraduate degree in business administration and management from Rider University.

 

2. Lauren Jensen
Prudential Financial

Lauren Jensen is the Vice President of Strategy for Enabling Solutions U.S. Businesses with Prudential Financial. Prudential Financial was founded on the belief that financial security should be within reach for everyone, and for over 140 years, they have helped their customers reach their potential and tackle life's challenges for now and future generations to come. Today, they are one of the world’s largest financial services institutions, offering individual and institutional clients a wide array of financial products and services.

Jensen first joined the company in 1996 as a business manager. Since then, she has served in several positions including director and manager roles. Jensen graduated from James Madison University with an undergraduate degree in communications.

 

3. Dahlia Peyser
Morgan Stanley

Dahlia Peyser is the First VP and Wealth Advisor of Morgan Stanley. She first joined the company in 2008. Morgan Stanley is a multinational investment bank and financial services company headquartered at New York City. The company mobilizes capital to help governments, corporations, institutions and individuals around the world achieve their financial goals.

Earlier in her career she worked with Merrill Lynch as a VP of global wealth and investment management. Peyser earned an undergraduate degree in sociology and mathematics from Syracuse University.

 

4. Elizabeth Ferrick
Bayer

Elizabeth Ferrick is the VP of HR for Consumer Health North America of Bayer. Bayer is a German multinational pharmaceutical and life sciences company and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. The company aims to improve people’s quality of life by preventing, alleviating or curing diseases. They also help provide an adequate supply of high-quality food, feed and renewable plant-based raw materials. Ferrick has 19 years of experience. She began her career in 2002.

Before joining Bayer, Ferrick was a global HR director of finance at Honeywell. Earlier in her career she worked with Pfizer as a senior HR manager. Ferrick graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a master of industrial and labor relations and from Carnegie Mellon University with an undergraduate degree in psychology.

 

5. Nicole Longo
Merck

Nicole Longo began her professional career over 17 years ago. Today, she is the SVP of Finance for Merck Human Health of Merck. Merck is a leading global biopharmaceutical company that has been inventing for more than a century, bringing forward medicines and vaccines for many of the world’s most challenging diseases. Through its prescription medicines, vaccines, biologic therapies and animal health products, it works with customers and operates in more than 140 countries to deliver innovative health solutions.

Longo first got her start in 2004 as a finance director of change management and process effectiveness at Sanofi-Aventis. Longo graduated from the University of Scranton with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

 

6. Melissa Persaud
New York Life Insurance Company

Melissa Persaud is the Corporate VP of Client and Agent Protection of New York Life Insurance Company. She first joined the company in 2020. New York Life Insurance Company is one of America's largest mutual life insurance companies. New York Life and its subsidiaries provide insurance, investment and retirement solutions.

Previously, Persaud was an associate director of fraud risk management at UBS Wealth Management and before that a fraud analyst at UBS. Earlier in her career she worked with the City of Jersey City as an administrative assistant. Persaud earned an undergraduate degree in finance from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey - Rutgers Business School.

 

7. Sue James
GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare

Sue James is the VP of Global Regulatory Affairs of Consumer Healthcare of GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare. GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare is a science-led global healthcare company with a special purpose to improve the quality of human life. GSK is the world’s tenth largest pharmaceutical company and #296 on the 2019 Fortune 500. James has over 21 years in the pharmaceutical industry. She began her career in 2000.

James graduated from the University of York with an undergraduate degree in biochemistry.

 

8. Jane Davila
Bristol-Myers Squibb

Jane Davila is the VP of Global Benefits & Talent Mobility COE of Bristol-Myers Squibb. Bristol-Myers Squibb is a global biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and delivering innovative medicines for patients with serious diseases. Their medicines are helping millions of patients around the world in disease areas such as oncology, cardiovascular, immunoscience, fibrosis and others.

Over the past twenty-five plus years, Davila has held several positions at BMS of increasing responsibility both domestically and internationally. She has led many major large-scale transformational initiatives, including many M&A activities. She is an active member of a number of industry and advisory boards and forums.

 

9. Michelle McLaughlin
Chubb

Michelle McLaughlin is the EVP of Chubb. She first joined the company in 1992. Chubb is the world’s largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance company. With operations in 54 countries and territories, Chubb provides commercial and personal property and casualty insurance, personal accident and supplemental health insurance, reinsurance and life insurance to a diverse group of clients.

McLaughlin earned an MBA and an undergraduate degree in accounting and finance from Seton Hall University.

 

10. Jennifer Jose
L'Oréal

Jennifer Jose is the AVP of Regulatory Affairs of L'Oréal - Americas. L'Oréal is a French personal care company and the world's largest cosmetics company concentrating on hair color, skin care, sun protection, make-up, perfume, and hair care. Leading the world in beauty and pioneering the world of beauty tech, they are 86K employees across 150 countries on five continents. Jose has 19 years of experience. She began her career in 2002.

Before joining L'Oréal, Jose was a senior manager of regulatory affairs at Revlon. Earlier in her career she worked with Cabot Corp as a hazard communication toxicologist. Jose graduated from Northeastern University with a MS in toxicology, from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey with an undergraduate degree in toxicology, and from Rutgers University - Newark with an undergraduate degree in clinical lab sciences.

 

11. Mary Gilbert
UBS Wealth Management

Mary Gilbert began her professional career over 25 years ago. Today, she is the First VP of UBS Wealth Management. UBS is a Swiss multinational investment bank and financial services company. Co-headquartered in the cities of Zürich and Basel, it maintains a presence in all major financial centers as the largest Swiss banking institution and the largest private bank in the world.

Gilbert first got her start in 1996 as a first VP of investments at Merrill Lynch. Gilbert graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with an undergraduate degree in economics.

 

12. Nadine Jones
Kuehne+Nagel

Nadine Jones is a VP and Corporate Counsel for Kuehne+Nagel. She first joined the company in 2012 as VP of the compliance department for Kuehne+Nagel North America. With over 74,000 employees at 1,400 locations in over 100 countries, the Kuehne+Nagel Group is one of the world’s leading logistics companies. Its strong market position lies in sea logistics, air logistics, road logistics and contract logistics with a clear focus on integrated logistics solutions.

Previously, Jones was a senior associate at Arnold & Porter LLP and before that a counsel at Antitrust Modernization Commission. Earlier in her career she worked with Arnold & Porter as an associate. Jones earned a JD from the Howard University School of Law.

 

13. Yin Becker
Stryker

Yin Becker is the Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Stryker. She first joined the company in 1998 as Vice President of Healthcare Innovations. Stryker is driven to make healthcare better by advancing medical technologies through innovative products and services in orthopaedics, spine, and neurotechnologies.

Previously, Becker was a Senior Manager of Sales Services at Pfizer and before that, a Human Resource Manager at Macy’s Inc. Becker earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Rider University.

 

14. Carrie Parikh
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey

Carrie Parikh is the Chief Privacy Officer and Assistant General Counsel of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. She first joined the company in 2019. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the only licensed Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan in the state, provides health insurance coverage to more than 3.8 million people throughout all of North, Central, and South Jersey.

Previously, Parikh was the COO and chief data and privacy officer for the State of New Jersey and before that a senior legal counsel and legal privacy lead at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Earlier in her career she worked with Kaye Scholer as a paralegal. Parikh earned a JD from the Rutgers University School of Law and an undergraduate degree from Syracuse University.

 

15. Sandy Green
Discovery

Sandy Green is the VP of Production Management of Discovery. Discovery is a global leader in real life entertainment, serving a passionate audience of superfans around the world with content that inspires, informs and entertains. Discovery’s portfolio of premium brands includes Discovery Channel, Food Network, Animal Planet, and Science Channel, and Discovery Kids in Latin America. Green has 20 years in the entertainment industry. She began her career in 2001.

Before joining Discovery, Green was a director of business and legal affairs at Scripps Networks Interactive and before that an SVP of production and development at Jane Street Entertainment. Earlier in her career she worked with Michael Moore as a production accountant.

 

16. Jennifer Canfield
Willis North America

Jennifer Canfield began her professional career nearly 32 years ago. Today, she is the VP and Project Manager of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of Willis North America. Willis North America provides reinsurance advisory services including risk financing and structuring, risk quantification, execution, service, claims, and communication. Willis North America serves customers worldwide.

Canfield first got her start in 1990 as an assistant VP at Marsh. From there, she went on to Tiffany & Co., before eventually rising to VP and account executive at Aon Risk Services Northeast, her most recent position prior to joining Willis North America. Canfield graduated from the University of Arizona with an undergraduate degree in business administration and accounting.

 

17. Shannon Simon
Arch Insurance Group

Shannon Simon is the AVP of Learning and Development with Arch Insurance Group. Arch Insurance Group, a division of Arch Capital Group Ltd., is a market-leading specialty insurer. They provide a wide range of property, casualty and specialty insurance for corporations, professional firms and financial institutions across the United States and Canada. Simon has nearly 23 years of experience. She began her career in 1999.

Simon first got her start with Peak Performance Consulting as a learning and development strategist before moving on to become a training coordinator for Hewlett Packard Enterprise. She spent 8 years with AIG in various positions including director and manager roles before moving on to Arch Insurance Group in 2021. Simon is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with an undergraduate degree in accounting and of New York University with a master’s in business education.

 

18. Sheila Rostiac
Public Service Enterprise Group

Sheila Rostiac is the SVP, CHRO and Chief Diversity Officer of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG). She first joined the company in 2007 as a director of talent management. PSEG is a publicly traded diversified energy company headquartered in Newark, New Jersey and was established in 1985 with a legacy dating back to 1903. The company's largest subsidiary is Public Service Electric and Gas Company.

Previously, Rostiac was a director of university relations and HR manager at Schering Plough. Earlier in her career she worked with Arthur Andersen & CO as a senior auditor. Rostiac earned an MBA from Centenary College and an undergraduate degree in accounting from Lehigh University, College of Business and Economics.

 

19. Brenda Menichillo
W. R. Berkley

Brenda Menichillo is the SVP of Berkley Global Underwriters of W. R. Berkley. Based in Connecticut and founded in 1967, Berkley Corporation is a Fortune 500 company and one of the nation's premier commercial lines property and casualty insurance holding companies. Menichillo has over 33 years of experience. She began her career in 1988.

Before joining W. R. Berkley, Menichillo was a national partner manager at The Hartford and before that a manager and assistant vice president of Chubb International Network at Chubb & Son, Inc. Earlier in her career she worked with James F. Hurley Insurance Agency as a licensed insurance agent and CSR. Menichillo graduated from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Rutgers Business School with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

 

20. Krishna Shah
International Flavors & Fragrances

Krishna Shah began her professional career over 26 years ago. Today, she is the Chief Data Officer of International Flavors & Fragrances. International Flavors & Fragrances is an American corporation that produces flavors, fragrances, and cosmetic actives, which it markets globally. It is headquartered in New York City and has creative, sales, and manufacturing facilities in 47 different countries.

Shah first got her start in 1995 as a senior consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers. From there, she went on to Pitney Bowes, before eventually joining International Flavors & Fragrances. Shah graduated from The University of Connecticut with an undergraduate degree in business administration.

 

21. Jean Sera
Avis Budget Group

Jean Sera is the SVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Avis Budget Group. She first joined the company in 2006. Avis Budget Group is a leading global provider of mobility solutions, both through its Avis and Budget brands, which have more than 11,000 rental locations in approximately 180 countries around the world, and through its Zipcar brand, which is the world's leading car sharing network, with more than one million members.

Previously, Sera was the VP of Legal at Cendant Corporation. Earlier in her career she worked with Shearman & Sterling LLP as an associate. Sera earned a JD from Boston University School of Law and an undergraduate degree in humanities and international affairs from the University of New Hampshire.

 

22. Rachel Richter
Change Healthcare

Rachel Richter is the VP of Insights, Analytics & CRM Operations of Change Healthcare. Change Healthcare is a leading healthcare technology company, focused on insights, innovation and accelerating the transformation of the U.S. healthcare system through the power of the Change Healthcare Platform. Richter has over 15 years of experience. She began her career in 2006.

Before joining Change Healthcare, Richter was the VP of analytics, insights & operations at Dun & Bradstreet and before that a research director at Turner Broadcasting. Earlier in her career she worked with ACNielsen, The Nielsen Company as an associate client manager. Richter has an undergraduate degree in marketing and international business from McGill University and an MBA in marketing and statistics from Baruch College, CUNY.

 

23. Jennifer Paradise
Getinge

Jennifer Paradise began her professional career over 24 years ago. Today, she is the VP of the Cardiac Assist Product Area of Getinge. Getinge is a global medical technology company, founded in Sweden in 1904. The firm provides equipment and systems within healthcare and life sciences.

Paradise first got her start in 1997 as a graphic design specialist at Proctor and Gamble. From there, she went on to WinStar for Education before eventually rising to director of immuno-oncology marketing at Bristol-Myers Squibb, her most recent position prior to joining Getinge. Paradise graduated from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business with an MBA and from the University of Michigan with an undergraduate degree in graphic design.

 

24. Trish O'Keefe
Atlantic Health System

Trish O'Keefe is the President of Morristown Medical Center of the Atlantic Health System. She first joined the system in 1981 as a nurse. Atlantic Health System is one of the largest non-profit health care networks in New Jersey. Its hospitals and outpatient centers are on the forefront of medicine and continually set standards for quality health care.

O'Keefe earned a PhD in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing administration from Seton Hall University and an undergraduate degree in nursing from Wilkes College.

 

25. Kim Fortunato
Campbell Soup Company

Kim Fortunato is the VP of Community Affairs of Campbell Soup Company. Campbell Soup Company, doing business as Campbell's, is an American processed food and snack company. The company is most closely associated with its flagship canned soup products however, through mergers and acquisitions, it has grown to become one of the largest processed food companies in the US. Fortunato has 22 years of experience. She began her career in 2000.

Before joining Campbell Soup Company, Fortunato was a president at Operation Warm, and before that a co-founder and president at Social Venture Partners DE. Earlier in her career she worked with Tower Hill Home and School Association as a VP. Fortunato graduated from Widener University School of Law with a JD and from Duke University with an undergraduate degree in French and comparative literature.

 

26. Beth Gaspich
NICE

Beth Gaspich began her professional career over 32 years ago. Today, she is the CFO of NICE. NICE is the worldwide leading provider of both cloud and on-premises enterprise software solutions that empower organizations to make smarter decisions based on advanced analytics of structured and unstructured data. Over 25,000 organizations in more than 150 countries, including over 85 of the Fortune 100 companies, are using NICE solutions.

Gaspich first got her start in 1989 as a mutual fund accountant at Dreyfus Corporation. From there, she went on to Oppenheimer Capital, before eventually rising to CFO at Archive Systems Inc, her most recent position prior to joining NICE. Gaspich graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

 

27. Judith Klimovsky
Genmab

Judith Klimovsky is the EVP and Chief Development Officer of Genmab. She first joined the company in 2017. Genmab is a publicly traded, international biotechnology company specializing in the creation and development of differentiated antibody therapeutics for the treatment of cancer.

Previously, Klimovsky was an SVP in oncology clinical development at Novartis and before that a regional medical director at Merck. Earlier in her career she worked with Bristol Myers Squibb - Argentina as a director of clinical research. Klimovsky earned an MD from Universidad de Buenos Aires.

 

28. Stephanie Kendrick
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts

Stephanie Kendrick is the VP of Brand Operations of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is the largest hotel franchising company in the world with 9,280 locations, based in New Jersey. Kendrick has 22 years in the hospitality industry. She began her career in 2000.

Before joining Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Kendrick was a general manager at Howard Johnson Enchanted Land. Earlier in her career she worked with Multi-Systems Inc. as an installer and trainer. Kendrick graduated from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with an undergraduate degree in political science and history.

 

29. Carol O'Hehier
Edelman

Carol O'Hehier is the EVP of HR for Edelman. She first joined the company in 1987. Edelman is a global communications firm that partners with businesses and organizations to evolve, promote and protect their brands and reputations. They employ 6,000 people in more than 60 offices and deliver communications strategies that give their clients the confidence to lead, act with certainty and earn the lasting trust of their stakeholders.

O'Hehier has over 34 years of experience within the field. She also previously held the roles of HR lead for Edelman’s LatAm and Canada offices, US Training and development function, and immigration unit.

 

30. Tricia Pilone
Planned Giving Alliance

Tricia Pilone is the CEO of Planned Giving Alliance. At Planned Giving Alliance, their goal is to provide charitable organizations with a path to long-term sustainability through legacy giving programs. The company works to support charities and non-profit organizations with restructuring and reimagining endowments, specifically through the recommendation and implementation of life insurance products. Pilone has 9 years in the financial services industry. She began her career in 2013.

Before joining Planned Giving Alliance, Pilone was a president of insurance services at PolicyAudits.com. Earlier in her career she worked with Capital Bank of New Jersey as a director.

 

31. Chitra Baskar
Intertrust Group

Chitra Baskar began her professional career over 30 years ago. Today, she is the COO of Intertrust Group. Intertrust is a publicly traded international trust and corporate management company based in Amsterdam. The company is best known for its fiduciary services, which includes tax, trust, business management and outsourcing processes. It is the largest trust office in the Netherlands.

Baskar first got her start in 1991 as a senior manager at Citicorp Mumbai. From there, she went on to IL&FS, before eventually rising to co-founder and COO at Viteos Fund Services, her most recent position prior to joining Intertrust Group. Baskar graduated from the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

 

32. Meaghan Koppel
Weber Shandwick

Meaghan Koppel is the EVP of Integrated Media of Weber Shandwick. She first joined the company in 2010 as account executive for media relations. Headquartered in London, Weber Shandwick is a leading global communications network that delivers next-generation solutions to brands, businesses and organizations in major markets around the world. Led by world-class strategic and creative thinkers and activators, they have won some of the most prestigious awards in the industry.

Earlier in her career she worked with Porter Novelli as an account executive. Koppel earned an undergraduate degree in communication from the University of Delaware.

 

33. Cheryl Watson
CohnReznick

Cheryl Watson is a Partner of CohnReznick. As a leading advisory, assurance, and tax firm, CohnReznick helps forward-thinking organizations achieve their vision by optimizing performance, maximizing value, and managing risk. The firm serves organizations around the world through its global subsidiaries and membership in Nexia International. Watson has nearly 23 years in the industry. She began her career in 1999.

Before joining CohnReznick, Watson was a managing director at KPMG US. Earlier in her career she worked with Rothstein, Kass & Company, P.C. as a senior manager. Watson graduated from Monmouth University with an undergraduate degree in accounting.

 

34. Rhonda Jordan
Virtua Health

Rhonda Jordan began her professional career over 31 years ago. Today, she is the EVP and Chief HR Officer of Virtua Health. Virtua is South Jersey’s largest health system, committed to the mission of helping people be well, get well, and stay well and averaging more than one million patient encounters each year. Virtua has more than 2,850 affiliated doctors and other clinicians, and its specialties include cardiology, orthopedics, advanced surgery, and maternity.

Jordan first got her start in 1990 as a director of career services at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Jordan graduated from Capella University with a MS in training and performance improvement and from Lamar University with an undergraduate degree in business administration and marketing.

 

35. Pannie Trifillis
PTC Therapeutics

Pannie Trifillis is the VP and Head of Global Scientific Affairs and Global Medical Affairs of PTC Therapeutics. She first joined the company in 1999 as a scientist in the discovery department. PTC Therapeutics is a US pharmaceutical company focused on the development of orally administered small molecule drugs and gene therapy which regulate gene expression by targeting post-transcriptional control mechanisms in orphan diseases.

Previously, Trifillis was a scientist at PTC Therapeutics at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Trifillis earned a PhD in molecular biology and human genetics from the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from Wellesley College.

 

36. Angela Garretson
New Jersey Institute of Technology

Angela Garretson is the Chief External Affairs Officer of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). NJIT is the state's public polytechnic university and a leader in STEM education, research, economic development, and service. Founded in 1881 with the support of local industrialists and inventors, NJIT opened as Newark Technical School in 1885 with 88 students. Garretson has 20 years in the education services industry. She began her career in 2001.

Before joining New Jersey Institute of Technology, Garretson was a program director at Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration. Earlier in her career she worked with Rutgers Eagleton as a program director. Garretson graduated from Rutgers University with an MA in public administration and from Syracuse University with an undergraduate degree in business administration.

 

37. Amy Junger
Razorfish

Amy Junger began her professional career over 26 years ago. Today, she is the VP of Razorfish. Razorfish, part of Publicis Groupe, is one of the world's largest interactive agencies. Razorfish provides services including web development, media planning and buying, technology and innovation, emerging media, analytics, mobile, advertising, creative, social influence marketing and search.

Junger first got her start in 1995 as a financial planning manager at Gruner + Jahr. From there, she went on to Conde'Nast, before eventually rising to senior director at SapientRazorfish, her most recent position prior to joining Razorfish. Junger graduated from Susquehanna University with an undergraduate degree in business.

 

38. Ali Intres
Forbes

Ali Intres is the SVP of Human Resources of Forbes. She first joined the company in 2020. Forbes is an American business magazine owned by Integrated Whale Media Investments and the Forbes family. Published eight times a year, it features articles on finance, industry, investing, and marketing topics. Forbes also reports on related subjects such as technology, communications, science, politics, and law.

Previously, Intres was an SVP of talent at DigitasLBi and before that a VP of human resources at Time Inc. Earlier in her career she worked with Worth Magazine as a human resources associate.
