Under her leadership, Wells Fargo's commercial real estate team has seen a remarkable transformation in diversity. What began as a predominantly male-dominated team has now evolved to include 50 percent women, with 70 percent occupying new leadership positions or roles different from when she assumed her role.

McShane said, “My main goal was to create the best leadership team off the bat, and I think I’ve done that. When I set out to fill a position, it’s always about getting the best talent for the job, so it’s a bonus that my team is a lot more diverse than it used to be.”  This commitment to diversity and excellence has not only enhanced the team's performance but has also created a supportive environment where diverse voices are valued.

Rachel Jinich and Vanessa Rodriguez, both elevated to leadership positions by McShane, exemplify the success stories within Wells Fargo's commercial real estate division. Their journeys underscore the importance of mentorship and seizing opportunities, even in challenging times like the Global Financial Crisis.

As the commercial real estate industry navigates through uncertain times, McShane remains optimistic about the future. Despite challenges posed by market dynamics, Wells Fargo continues to demonstrate resilience and commitment to its clients.

For women considering a career in commercial real estate finance, McShane's message is clear: seize opportunities, work hard, and have confidence in your abilities. As Wells Fargo's commercial real estate division continues to evolve, McShane's leadership serves as an inspiration for future generations of women in the field.
