Adele Cook

Adele Cook is the Chief Learning Officer at the Arizona Department of Economic Security, heading up the agency's enterprise learning and development department for the State's social safety net agency. Cook is a learning leader with over 25 years' experience in employee and organizational development in both the public and private sector. She has spent 20 years in the public sector, at the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, the Arizona Department of Administration, and the Department of Economic Security. Cook specializes in building successful teams that drive success not only within the learning and development function but across the organization, and frequently beyond DES to other organizations. During her tenure, she added staff, reduced vacancy from 50% to 4%, reduced regrettable attrition to 2%, improved quality and timeliness by 10% and 75% respectively, and as a result improved employee engagement by 445% over 2 years, recently achieving an eNPS of 32.7. Learning solutions produced by the team have been adopted as national standards, as well intra-state standards, and the leadership development program is making use of world class approaches and solutions. Cook holds an undergraduate degree in English from Pomona College in Claremont, California. She is a member of the CLO Exchange Steering Committee, the Corporate Learning Network, and the Association for Talent Development.
