Paz de la Huerta, an artist and an actor, has unveiled her first solo film and painting exhibition, “El Vallé de Lagrimas,” at Ruttkowski;68 gallery in Paris. Running through July 28, 2024, the exhibition features 14 paintings and four films, reflecting de la Huerta’s tumultuous life and career. Known for her roles in "The Cider House Rules" and HBO’s "Boardwalk Empire," de la Huerta’s art, steeped in Catholic imagery, reveals her subconscious and personal struggles. The exhibition’s title, translating to “Valley of Tears,” signifies her journey through suffering and healing, encapsulated in her raw, emotionally charged works.

Throughout her career, de la Huerta has faced significant challenges, including accusations against Harvey Weinstein and time spent in psychiatric institutions. Her art has been a therapeutic outlet, allowing her to process trauma and express her rebellion against societal norms. Living on a secluded farm for the past two years, she has found a semblance of peace and continues to paint and work on new projects, including a memoir and films. Her recent works show a shift toward lighter themes, symbolizing hope and awakening as she moves forward from her painful past.
