Dr. Jan E. Patterson is an integrative medicine and infectious diseases physician who has practiced and taught medicine for more than 30 years. She received her MD degree at McGovern Medical School in Houston, did her internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt and her infectious diseases fellowship at Yale. She completed a masters in Health Care Management at Harvard School of Public Health and has also completed a fellowship at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at University of Arizona. She is currently professor of medicine/infectious diseases and associate dean for quality & lifelong learning at UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine, and is medical director of integrative medicine at University Health. She has held leadership positions at the local and regional level, and at the national level in her professional societies. Dr. Patterson has more than 150 scientific publications and has been an invited speaker in local, regional, national, and international venues, and has received honors and awards for her work and service. Her latest book is Breath for the Soul: Self-Care Steps to Wellness. She believes in using all the tools in the toolbox for better health, and works to integrate holistic therapies with conventional ones.
