Not only is Sofía Vergara one of the highest-paid actress in the world, she is also a highly successful businesswoman. Born in Colombia and educated at a private bilingual Spanish/English school, she was discovered on a beach by a photographer when she was 17 and consequently abandoned her plans for a career in dentistry.

“I didn't want to be an actress. I wanted to be a dentist, but you never know what life will bring you,” she explained.

She kicked off her career with a Pepsi commercial that aired in Latin America before working as a model and starring in a Mexican telenovela. She hosted Colombian TV shows until she moved to the United States in the mid 90s. Few years later, she relocated most of her family to Miami.

In the 2000s, she started acting in films and became a household name for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on popular sitcom “Modern Family,” which ran from 2009 to 2020.

Throughout her career, she has become beloved by all demographics. Notably, she always has great pride for her background and accent, encouraging others embrace their heritage as well.

Beyond acting, as a triumphant entrepreneur, she found success in her retail lines, scaling from makeup and clothing to furniture, jewellery, and fragrances. She owns her Sofia Jeans brand at Walmart and has been the face of several brands such as CoverGirl, Head & Shoulders, and Pepsi.

In the 90s, she co-founded Latin World Entertainment, which over the years became a top Hispanic talent management and entertainment marketing firm in the United States with a full approach including licensing, publicity, endorsements, production, and content development.

“I like business, and the truth is I save way more than I spend. I invest. I plan for the future. I have a special eye for opportunities and work harder than anyone might expect,” she said.

Never one to slow down, she recently joined the judge’s panel of “America’s Got Talent” and is also teaming up with Cantabria Labs, the Spanish healthcare company leader in dermatological recommendations.
